Professional Portraits
The Office of Communications and Marketing provides faculty and staff with several opportunities to obtain a professional college portrait.
Website Portrait
For public-facing photos on the website, Hamilton College faculty and staff have two options.
- Free Professional Portrait Services: We offer two open portrait sessions per year at no cost to you. The sessions take place in August and January. Notifications are sent to faculty and staff via email from the Communications & Marketing Office. Portrait sign-ups are first come, first served.
- We can accommodate a limited number of individual portrait sessions throughout the year. You may request an individual session using our request form.
- The portraits taken by our photographers are for Hamilton College use only. Written permission must be obtained from the Communications and Marketing Office for any other use. Contact us at viscomm@hamilton.edu.
- Submit your own portrait: If you have a high-resolution, professional portrait that meets our editorial standards, you are welcome to submit it for consideration using our request form. The minimum portrait standards are as follows:
- Minimum 1440 pixels wide and 980 pixels tall
- Landscape orientation
Hamilton Directory Photo
You may use your professional Hamilton portrait as your Hill Card and directory photo. The Hamilton directory is behind a login, and your photo is viewable only by Hamilton College students, faculty, and staff.

Photo Opt-Out
If you would like to opt out of having your photo appear on the public-facing website, the Hamilton directory, or both, please update your directory preferences (login required).
