The Frederick C. Ferry Library Fund

This fund, established by the family of Frederick C. Ferry, former President of Hamilton who died in 1956, provides for the purchase of books in the field of mathematics.

Dr. Ferry was born in Vermont and graduated from Williams College before receiving master’s degrees from Harvard, Clark, Colgate, and Knox universities. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Hamilton in 1917, the same year he was called upon to serve as the College’s 10th president. He remained as the College’s President until 1938. Additionally, he taught mathematics on the Hill and was a member of the College’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Ferry married Anna Chamberlain in 1905, and they had four children including Chamberlain Ferry, Class of 1929 and Frederick C. Ferry, Jr. Class of 1935.
