The Henry P. Bristol 1910 Library Book Fund

This fund was established in 1959 upon the death of Henry Platt Bristol, Class of 1910, by a large group of his friends and associates.

Henry Platt Bristol (1889-1959), Class of 1910, was one of many in the Bristol family with close ties to Hamilton. He was the son of William M. Bristol, Class of 1882, and brother of Lee H. Bristol, Class of 1914, and William M. Bristol, Jr., Class of 1917. While on the Hill, Henry was a member of the Sigma Phi fraternity. Following his undergraduate education, Henry served in the U.S. Army in World War I. Upon his return to the States, Henry married Gertrude Flesh in 1928. In 1930 he was awarded an honorary Master of Arts degree from Hamilton. He served as Vice Chairman of the College’s Board of Trustees, as well as Chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. This fund provides for the purchase of books with preference in the field of international relations
