The Horace Seely Brown Library Fund

This fund was established by gifts from friends and associates of Professor Horace Seely Brown to support the purchase of books in the field of mathematics.
Horace Seely Brown grew up in Connecticut before attending Lafayette College with the Class of 1899. At graduation he received the degree of Bachelor of Science and in 1905 the degree of Masters of Science. He then taught for three years at the University School in Norwalk, Connecticut, before joining the faculty of the Friends School in Washington, D.C. He also completed graduate work at George Washington University. In 1908, Professor Brown joined the Mathematics department at Hamilton College, where he remained until 1943.
