Course Description:

This course develops advanced Russian language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. We will analyze contemporary texts from journals, blogs, and social media that address the evolving social, political, and cultural landscape of the post-Soviet world. Using a thematic approach, we’ll explore politics, economy, education, migration, and cultural identity. Primary sources and complex grammatical structures will enhance proficiency for engaging in contemporary Russophone discourse. Close readings, discussions, debates, presentations, and writing assignments will build fluency. By semester’s end, you’ll be prepared to critically examine and discuss key cultural and political events shaping today’s post-Soviet space.
