Title: Afro Futures, Decolonization
Day & Time: TR 02:30PM 03:45PM

Course Description:

Generations of African descent people in Europe challenge the erasure of colonial ties and complex identities. They represent a Europe undergoing significant demographic, economic, and social transformations, contributing to new social contours and meanings. The rise of Far Right racist populism generates further obstacles. We examine dimensions of African and Black lives as sites of contested belonging and rights. How are Europe and Africa interconnected? How might we understand Europe through the lenses of Blackness and decolonization? We explore such concepts as citizenship and belonging; lived experience; borders; place and identity; power and representation; solidarity; futurism.
