Course Description:

Theoretical and methodological examination of the study of human behavior in legal contexts. Topics include psychology of criminal behavior; persuasion in the courtroom; risk assessment and punishment; and the influence of extralegal variables (e.g., race). Class time devoted to critical analysis and discussion of legal cases and psychology research articles. Laboratory component involves conducting two research projects. Data collection, statistical analysis, papers based on findings, oral and poster presentations. Three hours of class and three hours of laboratory.
