  • Imagine that you need to ask for directions in Madrid, but those three years of high school Spanish didn’t leave a lasting impression. Fear not, because for quick phrases on-the-go, it just takes a Smigin. Smigin is a new mobile translating app that allows users to build phrases and instantly receive accurate translations by selecting sentence fragments from three drop-down boxes.  The app went live in the Apple® app store on Monday, Feb. 17.

  • Four Hamilton students traveled to Albany, N.Y., on Feb. 12 to take part in Student Advocacy Day.  Hosted annually by CICU, this event makes it possible for legislators to hear directly from students on what Opportunity Programs across New York State mean in their lives.   • This winter break was an exciting one for Hamilton's Model European Union (EU) team.  After a semester of rigorous debate and training, 11 students were selected to travel to the University of Twente in Enschede, Netherlands, to participate in the 25th annual EuroSim conference. They were accompanied by faculty advisor Visiting Assistant Professor of Government Calin Trenkov-Wermuth ’00.

  • Hamilton’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) collected more than 100 pieces of gently used and new sports equipment for donation to the House of Good Shepherd.  SAAC’s Samantha Sherman ’15 (field hockey) and Katie Steates ’15 (women's golf) along with Associate Director of Athletics Kerri Fagan dropped off two car loads of equipment on Dec. 12. The items included baseball/softball bats and gloves, soccer balls, basketballs, kickballs, tennis rackets and more.

  • Hamilton a capella group The Buffers performed in the 33rd annual John Lennon Tribute concert before a sold-out crowd at Symphony Space on Manhattan’s Upper West Side on Dec. 6. The Lennon Tribute, co-sponsored by Theatre Within and Music Without Borders, began in 1981 as a small gathering of artists who wished to honor the memory of the musical icon, and has since grown into a major charity event for the Spirit Foundation, which Lennon and Yoko Ono founded in 1978.
