Peter Rabinowitz, the Carolyn C. and David M. Ellis ’38 Distinguished Teaching Professor of Comparative Literature, published “John Adams’ New Mythology: Doctor Atomic, Narrative Theory, and the Rhetorical Poetics of Music” in a special issue of the German journal Anglistik.

Student leaders arrived back on campus a day early in order to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Leadership Conference. Around 150 students attended the conference hosted by former U.S. Ambassador Prudence Bushnell.

Hamilton College will host the first New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium (NY6) Spectrum Conference for LGBTQA students, faculty and staff on Feb. 22-23 on campus. 

Former U.S. Ambassador Prudence Bushnell dreamed of creating a leadership program for college-age students, but was not convinced it was possible. That is, until she came to the Hill as the visiting Linowitz professor and spent a semester with Hamilton students.

A strong advocate for women on campus and a leader in the community, Ellie Wertimer extended friendship and hospitality to generations of students and alumni.

Hamilton will honor the leadership legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King by bringing student leaders back to campus the day before classes begin to take part in the second annual MLK Student Leadership Day on Monday, Jan. 20.

Taking a break from his research in Bodhgaya, India, in January, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies Abhishek Amar met with Professor of French John C. O’Neal and ITS Educational Technologist Ted Fondak.

Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics, gave one of two presentations on “Research Priorities” at the opening session of the Mid-Year Fellows workshop at Rutgers University.

Lolita Buckner Inniss, the Elihu Root Peace Fund Visiting Professor of Women’s Studies, was awarded a grant for the completion of her book The Princeton Fugitive Slave: James Collins Johnson.

Hamilton College President Joan Hinde Stewart attended an all-day summit on Thursday, Jan. 16, hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in Washington.  Note: Following this meeting, President Stewart discussed her observations on Albany public radio station WAMC-FM  and Utica station WIBX-AM.
