  • Jim Kennedy, vice president and director for strategic planning at the Associated Press, presented "The New Model for News" on February 3 in the Science Center. The presentation focused on how the Associated Press (AP) is confronted with the challenge of restructuring the news to fit the new generational consumption of media. Kennedy provided detailed information regarding how the AP addressed this problem as well as solutions for news consumption in the future.

  • Since November 2008, Hamilton has been producing power from the wind turbine on the South Campus and its two photo-voltaic solar arrays located on the roofs of Kirner-Johnson and the Outdoor Leadership Center, according to Associate Vice President for Facilities and Planning Steve Bellona.

  • Hamilton's Nordic Ski Team is making a name for itself in competitions in the Northeast. Emily Stinson '09 has been instrumental in organizing a team that travels and competes every weekend.

  • Hamilton has joined the academic consortium of UNAVCO, a non-profit, membership-governed consortium that supports and promotes Earth science by advancing high-precision techniques for the measurement and understanding of crustal deformation. As a result of the College becoming a UNAVCO member, Hamilton faculty, students and staff may participate in workshops, internships and short courses to help develop understanding of the technologies of measuring crustal motion.

  • Twelve Hamilton students participated in the McGill Model United Nations Conference (MCMUN) Jan. 29-Feb. 1 in Montreal. The conference consisted of approximately 1,400 delegates. The keynote speaker at the opening ceremonies was the right honorable Joe Clark, a former Prime Minister of Canada and a member of the Canadian Parliament for 25 years.

  • David Monaco '89 has been named the next head of the Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas.  Monaco will be replacing the school's long-standing head, Gloria Synder, when she steps down in June.  At Hamilton, Monaco was a history major and a member of the football team.
