  • A former American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow who worked on the minority staff of the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
  • A sociologist whose dissertation was a five-year ethnography into how ties between higher education and the market shaped STEM training.
  • An MIT computer science Ph.D. who worked as a senior machine learning research engineer at Genesis Molecular AI.
  • A macroeconomist whose research focuses on the implications of environmental policies and shocks.

These describe just a few of Hamilton’s 40 new faculty members for the 2026-27 academic year, including six tenure-track professors in Economics, French and Francophone Studies, Government, German/Russian/Italian/Arabic, History, and Mathematics and Statistics. In addition, Yelsy Hernandez Zamor (Hispanic Studies), who joined the Hamilton faculty in 2024, accepted a tenure-track position.

They join 30 new visiting professors and lecturers, and four teaching fellows.

“College is, at its core, a place where people ask questions together,” said Provost and Dean of Faculty Ngoni Munemo. “This month roughly 480 new students arrived carrying questions they don’t yet know how to ask well, and approximately 40 new faculty colleagues arrived who have spent their careers learning how to ask them. What happens between those two groups — in classrooms, in labs, in studios, in theatres, on fields, in water and on it, and in office hours in the late afternoon — is the whole of what we do here. I am enchanted each year to watch it begin again.”
