Under bright, sunny skies on College Hill, about 475 members of the Class of ’30 arrived on campus to begin Orientation, head off on adventure trips, and officially settle into life at Hamilton. They rolled up in jam-packed cars and SUVs, greeted by enthusiastic — and very loud — costumed Orientation leaders joined by President Steven Tepper.
Hamilton Students Advance Biomedical Research Through MMRI Partnership
A growing partnership between Hamilton College and the Masonic Medical Research Institute (MMRI) is giving students the opportunity to pursue biomedical research. This summer, Lydia DeTraglia ’28 and Aksel Reid ’27 are spending 10 weeks at the institute in Utica conducting independent research projects while gaining firsthand experience in a professional laboratory.
Hamilton Students Dive Into 20,000 Years of Florida River History
On Florida’s Wakulla and St. Marks rivers, a group of Hamilton researchers spent their summer snorkeling for freshwater snails, watching for alligators and manatees, and collecting samples that preserve thousands of years of environmental history.
Wrisley ’26 Finds a Fit in Product Management at Home Depot
Finding the right career path for Mia Wrisley ’26 meant finding a way to bring together her many interests. After graduation, with a computer science and world politics double concentration, she joined the Home Depot’s inaugural associate product management program in a role she says brings together both the technical and interpersonal skills she developed at Hamilton.

Maurice Isserman, the Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History and author of Continental Divide: A History of American Mountaineering, is featured prominently in Pete Takeda’s Alpinist article “Stepping into the Syllabus: A Veteran Alpinist Sees the Himalaya Through the Eyes of College Students” (Issue 94, Summer 2026), about Isserman’s course History and Literature of Himalayan Mountaineering, from the Nineteenth Century to the Present.
