The Clinton Scollard Library Fund

This fund was established by the Library Committee in 1934 in memory of Dr. Clinton Scollard, Class of 1881. It supports the purchase of books in English Poetry.
Dr. Scollard was an American poet and fiction writer who taught English at Hamilton beginning in the late 1880s. He was raised in Clinton, NY, before attending Hamilton for his undergraduate education. On the Hill, he was a member of Chi Psi fraternity and active with the varsity baseball team. Following graduation, he attended Harvard. After teaching at Hamilton until 1896, he dedicated the rest of his life towards creative writing. He received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Hamilton in 1906.
