The Marjorie Rickard McEwan Book Fund
July 1, 1978

This fund was established in honor of Marjorie R. McEwen, long-time resident of College Hill and Clinton, Trustee Emeritus of Kirkland College 1966-78, Trustee Emeritus of Hamilton College, and wife of Robert McEwen, President of Hamilton, 1949-1966.
Marjorie McEwen (1897-1987) was born in Lawrence, KS, and received her A.B. and M.A. degrees from the University of Kansas. She continued her education at Columbia and received a Ph.D. in French Literature. She taught at several colleges, and eventually met Dr. McEwen, whom she married. During the McEwens time on the Hill, Marjorie was an active member of the community, serving on the boards of both colleges. This fund honors her commitment to the women of Kirkland College and Hamilton College, supporting their needs and interests on the Hill.
