The Robert B. Paddock Memorial Book Fund
July 1, 2001

This book fund was established in 1999 in memory of Robert B. Paddock (1920-1999), Class of 1942, by his wife, Blair A. Paddock. The books purchased through this fund alternate yearly between the areas of political science and history.
Robert B. Paddock ’42 was the grandson of Wilbur E. Paddock, Class of 1853, and he joined several of his uncles in sharing an alma mater. On the Hill, he joined Sigma Phi fraternity, presided on the Current Affairs Forum, and sang in the choir. His Hamilton experience was interrupted by World War II, when at the end of his sophomore year he enlisted in the U.S. Navy’s V-7 program, soon being commissioned as a lieutenant commander. He served the Navy in the Atlantic and Mediterranean until the end of the war.
Following his return to the States, he continued his education on College Hill and was a student instructor in public speaking. Following graduation in 1946 with honors in political science, he earned an LL.B. from Columbia in 1948, and joined a law firm in New Rochelle, NY. His work eventually took him to New Orleans with Shell Co., and he became an instructor of law. Mr. Paddock was active in several community organizations, as well as a dedicated and supportive alumnus.
