New Year, Old Phishing Schemes

Although we are in a new year, you may find yourself receiving more of the same phishing emails. How can you tell if an email message is real or fake?

A phishing email is a message that tries to trick you into entering personal information (e.g., username and password, bank information, SSN, etc.) into a fake website.

Below are two examples of actual messages previously sent to members of the Hamilton College Community. There are telltale signs that the messages are fake. Once you determine a message is fake (a.k.a. spam or phishing), follow these directions to report it to Google.
