Rowe Offers edX Course on jazz

On the heels of two successful edX online course offerings in 2015, Hamilton will debut a third course, Jazz: the Music, the Stories, the Players, presented by Joe Williams Director of the Jazz Archive and Lecturer in Music Performance Monk Rowe beginning on Feb. 2. The free six-week program is designed to appeal equally to the casual listener, the avid fan and the proficient jazz player, according to Rowe. More.. .

Beyond YouTube. LITS Now Offers Streaming Videos

LITS is pleased to announce the addition of two new subscription streaming video services, Films on Demand and Kanopy. This now brings the size of our video collection to over 50,000 titles. Streaming videos offer faculty and students many options for viewing -- in-class, out-of-class, from off campus, and they're available 24/7. These collections, designed for educational use, include award winning documentaries, educational films, historic newsreels and theatrical releases. More...

Exhibit: The Infancy of Printing

Special Collections has installed a new exhibition on the third floor of Burke Library, "The Infancy of Printing: Books from 1500 and Earlier in Burke Library" Hamilton College owns fifty-three books printed in 1500, or earlier. Dating from the first period of printing in Europe, they are known as incunabula, (singular incunabulum), from the Latin word meaning “swaddling clothes” or “cradle.” More...

The Hamilton Geosciences Rock Collection was recently made available through Shared Shelf Commons, a free, open-access image library. The online collection currently features images of 653 rock samples, along with information about each rock. More...
