What is Google Jamboard?

Google Jamboard is a 55-inch digital whiteboard that allows you to collaborate in realtime via our G Suite for Education services.

What can Jamboard do?

  • Write and draw with the included stylus.
  • Search Google and insert images or webpages.
  • Drag and resize text and images with your fingers.
  • Sketch a box, star, cat, or dragon. Image recognition technology converts your sketch into a polished image.
  • Share your jams with collaborators. Up to 50 people can work on a jam at once.

Add Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to a jam.

View and edit your jam files from anywhere with an internet connection. Your work saves automatically.

 

  • Display upcoming Google Calendar events on Jamboard.
  • Tap an agenda item to start a scheduled meeting.
  • Present your whiteboard to people viewing remotely.

 

  • Create, edit, and share jams from your phone, tablet, or computer.
  • Open a jam on a nearby Jamboard from your phone or tablet.
  • Connect your computer to Jamboard. Jamboard displays your screen and lets you control the computer from the board’s touchscreen.
  • Pick up where you left off earlier or email your jam session when you finish.

Getting Started

You can write or draw in the frame using the stylus on the board, your finger on the app, or your cursor in a web browser.

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. On the toolbar, tap Draw Draw.
  3. (Optional) To change pens, tap a marker, highlighter, or brush tool.
  4. (Optional) To change colors, under the pens, tap a color.

Add shapes and drawings to a jam

Feature currently only available on a Jamboard and the Jamboard app

You can add polished text, shapes, and drawings to your jam. For example, when you draw a square, Jamboard cleans up the edges and angles of your drawing. You can draw images, such as circles, cats, or bicycles.

  1. On a Jamboard, create or open a jam.
  2. On the toolbar, tap Draw Draw.
  3. Tap Assistive drawing tools and then one of the following tools:
    • To clean up written text, tap Handwriting recognition Handwriting recognition.
    • To format shapes, tap Shape recognition Shape recognition.
    • To recognize and clean up drawings, tap AutoDraw Autodraw.
  4. Add your drawing or text.

Add notes to a jam

Feature currently only available on a Jamboard and a web browser

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. On the toolbar, tap Insert note Insert note.
  3. Tap a color to change the note’s color.
  4. Use the on-screen keyboard to add text to the note.

 

You can search for images in a jam as well as add photos or insert a screenshot of a webpage to a jam.

Add an image on a Jamboard

  1. Start or open a jam.
  2. On the toolbar, tap Choose image Choose image and then one of the following tools:
    • To search for an image, tap Image Search. Use the keyboard to enter a term, then tap Search. Tap an image to insert it.
    • To search the web, tap Web search. Use the keyboard to enter a term, then tap Search. Tap a search result, then tap Crop to select part of the web page. Then tap Insert.
    • To insert stickers, tap Stickers. Then tap a sticker to insert it.
    • To take a picture with the board's camera, tap Take photo Take photo. Tap Take photo Take photo again to capture and insert the photo.
  3. Search for an image on the web,  or tap the camera to use the Jamboard camera.
  4. Tap Select.

Add an image using your web browser

  1. Start or open a jam.
  2. On the toolbar, click Choose image Choose image.
  3. At the top, click the tabs to search for an image or choose an image from Google Drive or Google Photos.
  4. Click Select.

Add an image from the Jamboard app

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. On the toolbar, tap Expand Expand and then Insert photo Insert photo.
  3. Tap the image.

  1. On a Jamboard, start a jam.
  2. Tap Choose image Insert image.
  3. Tap Web search.
  4. Enter a search term and tap Search.
  5. Tap a result.
  6. Tap Crop and select the part of the page that you want to insert.
  7. Tap Insert.

Using the Jamboard app you can insert Google Drive files, such as files from Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, in a jam.

Insert a file with the Jamboard app

  1. Download the Jamboard app on your mobile device from the Play Store or the Apple® App Store®.
  2. On your phone or tablet, open the Jamboard app.
  3. Create or open a jam.
  4. On the toolbar, tap Google Drive Google Drive.
  5. Tap a file and then Select.

 

You can copy frames and change the order of frames in jam.

Copy a frame

To copy a frame on Jamboard or in a web browser:

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. At the top of the screen, tap or click the frame bar to expand it.
  3. Tap or click More Moreand then Duplicate.

To copy a frame in the Jamboard app:

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. Tap the frame bar to expand it.
  3. Touch and hold the frame and then swipe up to duplicate it.

Reorder your frames

You can move frames on a Jamboard, in the Jamboard app, or in a web browser.

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. At the top of the screen, tap or click the frame bar to expand it.
  3. Drag the frame to a new location.

Delete a frame

To delete a frame on a Jamboard:

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. Tap the frame bar to expand it.
  3. On the frame, tap MoreMoreand thenDelete.

To delete a frame in the Jamboard app:

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. Tap the frame bar to expand it.
  3. Touch and hold the frame and then swipe down to delete it.

To delete a frame in a web browser:

  1. Create or open a jam.
  2. At the top of the screen, click the frame bar to expand it.
  3. Point at a jam frame and click More Moreand then Delete.

 

You can share a jam to let people view or edit it. Whoever you share a jam with can find and open the file in Google Drive or open it on a Jamboard. You can also send a copy of your jam as a PDF file or share a single jam frame as a PNG file.

Share a jam from a Jamboard

To let people view or edit your jam:

  1. Start or open a jam.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and thenShare this Jam.
  3. Enter an email address and tap Add.

To send your jam as a PDF file or a single frame as a PNG file:

  1. Start or open a jam.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and thenSend a copy.
  3. Tap All frames (PDF) or Current Frame (PNG).
  4. Enter an email address and tap Send.

Share a jam from the app

To let people view or edit your jam:

  1. Open the Jamboard app.
  2. Start or open a jam.
  3. Tap More More and thenAdd People.
  4. Enter a name or email address and select whether they can view or edit the jam.

To share your jam as a PDF file:

  1. Open the Jamboard app.
  2. Start or open a jam.
  3. At the top right, tap More More and thenShare Jam as PDF.
  4. Select how you want to send the PDF.

To share a single frame as a PNG file:

  1. Open the Jamboard app.
  2. Start or open a jam.
  3. Navigate to the frame that you want to share.
  4. At the top right, tap More More and thenShare this frame as an image.
  5. Select how you want to send the image.

Share a jam from your computer

To let people view or edit your jam:

  1. In a browser window, open Jamboard.
  2. Start or open a jam.
  3. At the top right, click Share.
  4. Enter a name or email address and select whether they can view or edit the jam.
  5. Click Done.

To share your jam as a file from your computer, first download the PDF or PNG file. Then, send the file through another program.

  1. Open Jamboard.
  2. Start or open a jam.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Download as PDF or Save frame as image.
  4. Open a program to share the file.

 

You can display your saved jams on a Jamboard using a web browser or with the Jamboard app on your mobile device.

Before you begin

  • You need the Jamboard’s name. Find it on the screensaver. Or, tap Menu Menu.
  • Download the Jamboard app on your mobile device from the Play Store or Apple® App Store®.

Display a jam from a web browser

  1. In a browser, open Jamboard.
  2. Select the jam that you want to display.
  3. At the top right, click Open on a Jamboard.
  4. Enter the Jamboard’s name, select the name, and then click Open.
  5. On the board, tap Open to allow the jam to display.

Display a jam from the mobile app

If you’re within 30 feet of a Jamboard, you can open an existing jam using your phone or tablet.

  1. On your phone or tablet, turn on Bluetooth®.
  2. Open the Jamboard app and tap the jam that you want to display.
  3. Tap Open on board Open on board.
  4. Tap a Jamboard.
  5. On the board, tap Open to allow the jam to display.
