Pamela Cox, regional vice president (Latin America and the Caribbean) of the World Bank, will give a lecture titled “Latin America’s Future; Made in China?” on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn. The event is free and open to the public.

Hamilton College is pleased to host the 2011 Collegiate Water Polo Association Men's National Club Championship at Bristol Pool on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5 and 6.

The event, organized by Professor Scott MacDonald, is free and open to the public.

On October 26, the students of Associate Professor of Government Sharon Rivera’s “Politics of Russia” class participated in a teleconference with students from the Moscow State Institute of International Affairs (MGIMO), which is one of the most prestigious universities in the Russian Federation. The focus of the teleconference was the state of contemporary politics in Russia and in the United States.

The Psychology of Teen Violence and Victimization, a two-volume book set edited by Elihu Root Peace Fund Visiting Professor of Women’s Studies Michele Paludi, was recently published by Praeger.

Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies Joana Sabadell-Nieto was invited to participate in a round table discussion about the work of novelist Gonzalo Torrente Ballester (1910-1999) on Oct. 13 at the Instituto Cervantes in New York City and presented a lecture about his personal writings on Oct. 14 at SUNY Albany.

Students at Hamilton College typically have a vast selection of possible courses and majors. One may wonder, however, how Hamilton students succeed in the business world without obtaining a degree in business. The Hamilton students in NYC attended a lecture by renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs titled “The Price of Civilization: Reawakening American Virtue and Prosperity” on Oct. 25.  Sachs is the Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, professor of health policy and management, and director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, and special advisor the U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Associate Professor of French Joseph Mwantuali was recently invited to the International Colloquium on African Francophone Literature at the University of South Africa (UNISA) where he was honored for creativity and originality in his fiction work.
