Matthew E. Kahn ’88 will release his new book Climatopolis: How Our Cities Will Thrive in the Hotter Future in early September. In the book, Kahn argues that climate change is inevitable, and outlines how cities and regions around the world will gradually adapt. Some urban places will suffer but this optimistic book argues that free market induced technological progress and individual choice will help to protect urbanites in rich and poor countries from climate change’s most severe blows.

While working as a China Education Initiative (CEI) grade school teacher in China, Gregory Root ’09 has chronicled portions of his experience. One segment from this collection, an article about a special journey to the summit of a local mountain, was recently published in the Wall Street Journal. This publication of this article is not Root’s only impressive achievement abroad; he was also the production manager and star of the first ever tri-lingual drama production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream which aired on five Chinese national and local broadcasts.

Eric Jackson-Forsberg ’90 provided insight into the design concepts of architect Frank Lloyd Wright during his talk on Reunions ’10 weekend. As the curator of the Martin House Complex in Buffalo, New York, Jackson-Forsberg has had the opportunity to study the numerous art glass windows or “light screens” that Wright designed specifically for this complex of Prairie structures and has interpreted them within the functional and stylistic context of the buildings.

This August, six Hamilton alumni (Ian Lawson ’03, Deirdre Lydon ’02, Andrew Magoun ’03, Clarke Morrison ’03, Tracy Nichols ’03, and Ben Thorne ’03) will join eleven other runners as part of TEAM HOULI to run the Falmouth Road Race in Falmouth, MA. In addition to maintaining the friendships forged at Hamilton, the runners will raise money for the Matthew W. Houlihan Foundation.

Since joining Olympus in 2002 as the Director of Corporate Public Relations, Sullivan has quickly climbed the corporate ladder, proving her mettle at every step. Her new role with the company comes with the recent announcement from Olympus Corporation of the Americas of her promotion to Vice President, Corporate Communications. In this position, Sullivan is responsible for the corporate public relations department as well as managing brand and internal communications geared towards the company’s nearly 4,000 employees in the Americas.
