Installing the Citrix Workspace App on your Personal Computer


The Citrix Workspace App is already installed on public lab computers around campus. The following installation instructions apply only to personal computers. You can read more about the Citrix system from here.

Below are instruction videos for Mac and Windows users, walking you through the steps for installing the Citrix Workspace App on your personal machine.

Steps for installation:

  1. Go to https://www.citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/.
  2. Scroll down and click the link under “Workspace app for Windows (or Mac) Current Release,” depending on your computer’s platform.
  3. Make sure that your OS is compatible with the latest app. If so, click “Download Citrix Workspace app.” If not, go back to Step 2 and click “Earlier Versions of Workspace app for Windows (or Mac)” to find the appropriate app for your OS. See the following bullet points to check your OS version.
    • Mac: Click the Apple icon on the Apple menu, and choose “About This Mac.”
      • macOS 10.15: The latest app, as of February 5, 2021
      • macOS 10.14 and 10.13: Earlier versions > 2008
      • macOS 10.12 and 10.11: Earlier versions > 1906
    • Windows: Press the Windows key + R, type winver, and press Enter.
      • Windows 10 and 8.1: The latest app, as of February 5, 2021

      • Windows 7: Earlier versions > 2002

  4. Run the installer. Give admin permission if a pop-up comes up. 
  5. Once the installation is complete, click “Close.” Do not click “Add Account,” because you do not need to create an account for Citrix. 

  6. Proceed to Registering and Logging in to Citrix.
