With its comprehensive fees, we are confident that HiF comprehensive tuitions and fees cover more amenities than most other programs in Paris who do not include travel or room and board.

Tuition and Fees cover the following:

All instruction and advising: All courses including orientation, registration tuitions at partner universities and institutions where students take courses for credit; visits and events included in designated courses or required for some courses; tutorial sessions for designated classes. Personal advising supporting students’ academic goals. Stipend for cultural activities.

Group travel from a designated United States airport (usually JFK) to Biarritz in fall and Paris in spring, and return from Paris to the United States at the end of the year or the semester.

Note: Students may choose to travel independently, however in order to receive credit for separate travel students must make their own arrangements, pay for their tickets and inform Hamilton in France in writing before May 1 for fall, and October 20 for spring (including exact itinerary).

Room and half-board as stipulated under housing/homestays. Six dinners and breakfasts when classes are in session. Room without board during breaks.

Group activities: a program of study trips that includes travel, lodging, all meals, visits by specialists, group cultural activities (visits, films, exhibitions) in and around Paris and a small stipend for cultural activities (which covers a lot in Paris). Access to a program of high quality speakers at Reid Hall through Columbia Global Center.

Stipend: HiF reimburses up to $75  a semester for wellness/sports activities and $75 for French related cultural activities. End of the semester against receipts.

  • Insurance for personal effects: needs to be purchases in France.
  • Tuition insurance is not mandatory but strongly recommended.

Our hope is that no student needs to leave the program. However, is withdrawal is necessary (voluntarily withdrawal or due to illness or dismissal by Hamilton in France) Hamilton in France follows the refund policy established by the Hamilton College Business Office.

  • Amounts refunded refer to tuition and fees only. The program cannot refund deposits and travel expenses. Students who have purchased a ticket with the group are responsible for contacting the airline to inquire about changes or refunds.
  • Regardless of the reason for leaving, students who withdraw will not receive partial credit and, normally, the program does not grant incompletes.
  • Annual students who withdraw after one semester will be billed at the cost for the Hamilton in France fall semester and will pay a supplementary $1500 administrative fee to cover expenses incurred due to their early withdrawal.
  • The date of withdrawal is understood as the date on which the student leaves the program and moves out of the host family's residence.
