From the moment you accept your position, we are dedicated to ensuring your transition is smooth and that you feel at home in your new role.

Our New Employee Guide is here to help you hit the ground running. It includes key information to get you started and insights that will help you understand Hamilton.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the HR team or connect with your supervisor. We’re here for you every step of the way.

A member of our Human Resources team and/or your supervisor will connect with you prior to your start date to encourage you to:

  • Complete Workday tasks (e.g. Benefit selection, employment forms)
  • Schedule an introductory meeting with HR
  • Connect about technology needs (if necessary)
  • Share your itinerary for your first week, including first day start time and parking information
  • Sign your offer letter via Docusign

Business hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. during the academic year (mid-August through end of May), and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. during the summer months (end of May through mid-August).

Tasks

  • Obtain your Hill Card
  • Register for your campus parking sticker
  • Meet with your manager and review first week schedule
  • Go to the LITS Help Desk in Burke Library at the time scheduled for you by your supervisor to set up your technology and acquire any equipment and devices. See LITS New Employee Guide.
  • Attend an introductory meeting with HR and complete remaining paperwork
  • Please bring the IDs you used on your I-9 form
  • Meet your colleagues
  • Tour your office space and building
  • Confirm your office location, phone extension and email address with your supervisor

Tasks

  • Attend your first New Employee Lunch (it’s free!)
  • Review the College Organization Chart
  • Join your divisional VP for a meet and greet

Tasks

  • Complete your 90-day review with your manager
  • Schedule a time to have a professional portrait taken (offered in August and January)
  • Continue attending New Employee Lunches (paid for by Hamilton through your first year)
  • Continue meeting with your Campus Connector
  • Complete required training(s)
  • Cybersecurity
  • Title IX/Sexual Harassment 
  • Others (as needed by department or division)
  • Complete your Annual Review 
  • Explore/Attend professional development opportunities
